Key takeaways

  • Sodium is the number that matters. Per serving: LMNT 1,000 mg, Liquid I.V. 500 mg, Nuun Sport 300 mg, Momentous Daily Hydration 100 mg.
  • Sweat sodium typically ranges from about 10 to 90 mmol/L, roughly 230 to 2,070 mg in every liter you sweat, so salty sweaters need far more than others (GSSI).
  • LMNT has no sugar. Liquid I.V. has 11 g of sugar per stick, which can help in long sessions but adds up as an everyday drink.
  • Momentous Daily Hydration is a low-sodium daily drink, not a replacement for heavy sweat losses.

In the Nevada heat, water alone often isn’t enough for a long HYROX session. Here are four popular electrolyte mixes, compared on the label numbers that matter: sodium and sugar.

Why sodium is the number to watch

When you sweat you lose sodium as well as water. In her GSSI review of sweat testing, Lindsay Baker reports that sweat rates typically run about 0.5 to 2.0 liters an hour, and sweat sodium about 10 to 90 mmol/L. That works out to roughly 230 to 2,070 mg of sodium per liter of sweat.

That range is the whole story. A light sweater in a cool gym may lose a few hundred milligrams in an hour. A salty sweater doing sled pushes in a Las Vegas garage in July could lose several grams. No single product is right for both.

One simple test helps you place yourself: weigh yourself before and after a long session. GSSI calls body mass change the simplest way to estimate sweat rate, and each kilogram lost is about a liter of sweat. A lab or clinic sweat test can measure your sodium concentration.

Sports Performance Bulletin explains why it matters after training too: salt helps your body hold on to the fluid you drink, while plain water drunk quickly can pass straight through.

LMNT: the high-sodium pick for Vegas heat

LMNT is the simplest answer for hot, sweaty sessions: 1,000 mg sodium, 200 mg potassium and 60 mg magnesium per stick, and no sugar. LMNT lists a 30-stick box at $45, or $1.50 a stick, as of November 3, 2026.

The trade-off is taste. A full stick in a small bottle is very salty, and 1,000 mg is more than a light sweater on a cool day needs. Half a stick is an option for shorter sessions.

Liquid I.V.: sodium plus some carbs

Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier has 500 mg sodium, 380 mg potassium and 11 g of sugar per stick, plus B vitamins and vitamin C. That’s half LMNT’s sodium, but the most potassium in this group.

The sugar is the deciding factor. During a 90-minute session, 11 g of carbs is a small plus. As an all-day drink, three sticks is 33 g of added sugar.

Nuun Sport: the easy middle ground

A Nuun Sport tablet has 300 mg sodium, 150 mg potassium, 25 mg magnesium and 1 g of sugar, at 15 calories. Tablets are easy to carry to the gym, and the lighter taste is easier to drink in volume. For a salty sweater in heat, though, 300 mg won’t go far.

Momentous Daily Hydration: for every day, not heavy sweat

Momentous says Daily Hydration is built for “the hours between the work”: everyday drinking rather than training. Each packet has 100 mg sodium and 50 mg potassium, 1 g of sugar from cane sugar and honey, and it’s sweetened with Reb M. It comes in four flavors and is NSF Certified for Sport, which matters if you’re tested.

To be clear about the numbers: 100 mg of sodium won’t replace what you lose in a hot HYROX session. Use it for everyday hydration and pair it with a high-sodium mix on hard days. Momentous lists 30 packets at $24.99, or $18.74 with a subscription, as of November 3, 2026.

Quick answers

What are the best electrolytes for HYROX?

For hot, sweaty sessions, a high-sodium mix like LMNT (1,000 mg sodium, no sugar). For long sessions where you also want some carbs, Liquid I.V. (500 mg sodium, 11 g sugar). For light days, Nuun Sport or Momentous Daily Hydration.

Is LMNT or Liquid I.V. better for HYROX?

LMNT has twice the sodium (1,000 mg vs 500 mg) and no sugar. Liquid I.V. has more potassium (380 mg vs 200 mg) and 11 g of sugar. LMNT suits heavy sweaters; Liquid I.V. suits long sessions where a little sugar helps.

How much sodium do I lose when I sweat?

It varies a lot. GSSI's review puts typical sweat sodium at about 10 to 90 mmol/L, roughly 230 to 2,070 mg per liter, and sweat rates at about 0.5 to 2 liters an hour.

Should I drink electrolytes during a HYROX race?

Start the day hydrated, drink to thirst and only use what you've practiced in training. Never try a new drink on race day.
